Cobras - Students, Staff, Teachers, Guests - Welcome to Birchwood!

According to the Google, drivers in Prince Edward Island face some of the highest extra annual maintenance costs in Canada due to poor road conditions.  

  • Minor Damage (Tire/Rim): Punctured tires or cracked rims can range from $30 for a patch to over $450-$600 for a new tire and rim.
  • Moderate/Severe Damage (Suspension): Repairs to suspension components, such as control arms or ball joints, can exceed $800 per incident

Drama Club: 

  • Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays at lunch until the end of April. 
  • Keep working lines over the long weekend.

  • The park is not open yet.  Wait for us to give you the go-ahead on that.
  • Also students, coming back from lunch, we’re getting a bit loose in the building, nice weather does that.  Here’s a reminder for you.  Nobody should be in the halls after 12:25.  You need to be in Library, Art Room, Gym, by 12:25.  Otherwise you are in the cafeteria or outside.  Also, the front doors and lobby are not really open for you.  Please use the band and gym doors to come back in during lunch.  

Music:

  • Thursday: Grade 8 Band at 7:40. Midnight Rockers at Lunch.

This Saturday: Complimentary Lemon Water and Midnight Rockers along with 8 other bands from across the Island will be showcasing their skills at the PEI Schools of Rock Showcase on Saturday here at Birchwood School. Show starts at 5:00 PM. Rock band students should be clear on their sound check time earlier in the day.

Next Wednesday: The Grade 9 and Grade 8 Concert bands will be performing at the PEI Band Days at UPEI that morning. Please remember that you will need a ride to UPEI for 7:45 that morning. 

Wizard of Oz - May 13.  Tickets are $5 but to reserve our spots, you need to pay $5 by today.  To your HR Teacher or Online. Homeroom teachers please send envelopes to the office after announcements.  I wonder if this is a thing you can dress up in a costume for?  If three others want to cosplay the show, let me know.

Yearbook - We have secured a few more copies of the yearbook. If you want yours talk to Mme Wilson or Miss McGill about securing your copy! Once they are sold out there won’t be any more available in June.

Athletics: All students who are interested in participating in the PEISAA triathlon in May, please see Mrs. Steele at morning break for more information and add your name to the list.

Top Shelf Shuffle - Mark your calendar for May 2 everyone fort the Birchwood 5K Top Shelf Shuffle.  This is a fundraiser for our school and it attracts walkers and runners from all over.  The cost to participate is $20 which gets you into the shuffle and a T-shirt while supplies last.,  There’s also placement medals for our winners and door prizes.  Rain or Shine.  Any questions, talk to the Master Top Shelfer, Mr. MacCallum.
