Wednesday June 10 Students, staff, Teachers, guests - Welcome!
According to the Google, some of the most popular music played today at school band concerts are "Theme from Jurassic Park" which teaches sweeping legal phrasing and builds to one of the most iconic brass crescendos in film history. "Pirates of the Caribbean" which is fast, syncopated, and highly recognizable. It is great for learning 6/8 time feel or driving 4/4 syncopation. "Queen in Concert" which is a crowd-pleasing medley typically featuring "We Will Rock You," "Another One Bites the Dust," and "We Are the Champions." We can’t wait to hear what our music department has prepared for us today.
Speaking of which, here is the tentative schedule today.
10:00 Rock Bands.
11:00 Wind Bands.

Concert at 1:00. Classes will be called down to the gym.
Tonight: Plan to be at the school for around 5:30. Performers can get their instruments and go to the library.
Staff helping out: if you could be here ready to go at 5:30, that would be fantastic.
Athletics: Our Birchwood spring sports season has finished up for the year. Thank you to all athletes and coaches for a memorable and successful season. There are still uniforms to be turned in and athletic fees to be paid. Please take care of this business by Friday.
Physical Education classes will be outside today. Students are encouraged to wear a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and take a water bottle. Classes will meet outside the gym for attendance.
Ice Cream Treats and Freezies will be on sale in the cafeteria on Thursday. There is a limited supply of both and when they are gone they are gone. This is the final week for ice cream treats. Thanks to everyone who purchased them throughout the year. We raised over $2000.00 dollars to help support the Birchwood Christmas Campaign.
Blank Canvas Art Supplies are offering half day summer arts and crafts creative camps for ages 6-13 for two weeks in July. For more information about signing up, see Mr. Kielly.
