Miscellaneous:

  • The grade 9 writing assessment will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. 
  • The English LA classes will be working on the rough copies of their writing piece during their LA class today. This is a change from the schedule that was sent out.
  • Ms. Squire will be connecting with her students to explain the process for them. 
  • Reminder to students that there are no energy drinks allowed at school. 
  • Students please use the garbage cans outside of the school and refrain from throwing garbage on the ground.

Cobra Support Room:

  • We will no longer be announcing names of students who have been asked to go to the Cobra Support Room either for detention or to write an assessment.  You need to show up on your own accord as directed by your teacher.  Failure to show up will result in you receiving extra time in the Cobra Support Room.  Staff are reminded to state the reason and length of time that the student must stay.

Music:

  • Tuesday: Grade 9 Band at 7:40.
  • Wednesday: Grade 7 Band at Lunch.
  • Thursday: Grade 8 Band at 7:40 and Midnight Rockers at Lunch.
  • The Grade 7 Band represented Birchwood well at the Beginner Band Days in Summerside on Friday. Fantastic performances by everyone involved.

Drama Club:

  • Rehearsal today at lunch! 
  • The Birchwood Drama Club will perform “Order Up!” on Tuesday, June 2, at 6:30pm.  Admission is by donation, and food items and personal hygiene products are kindly accepted in support of our local food bank! All are welcome! Monday

Art: 

  • Previous groups art work, please come get it ASAP.

Gauss Competition: 

  • The 7 and 8 Math Gauss competition will take place Wednesday morning during period 1.  For those that signed up there will be a short meeting in room 162 today at break to go over some details.

Ice Cream Treats:

  • Will be on sale in the cafeteria on Wednesday because of the play at the Confederation Centre on Thursday.

Family Violence Prevention Week:

  • This week, May 11th - 15th, marks Family Violence Prevention Week 2026.  This year’s theme is "Supporting Intergenerational Resilience in Our Communities."   On Wednesday, May 13th, we encourage students and staff to wear purple clothing and/or a purple ribbon to raise awareness of the campaign and to demonstrate that violence in any relationship is not acceptable.

Library:

  • Please return all overdue library books at break or lunch. There is a drop box outside the library doors as well. If students have any book recommendations, they can fill out a sticky note and post it on the recommendation board just inside the library doors. 

Athletics:

  • Flag Football:  
    • AG Flag: It’s Game Day! The girls play SP3 at 3:40 and Souris at 4:30. Games are at the Cornwall Turf. See Mme Power if you need a drive.
  • Girls Softball:
    • Practice today at 3pm to 4:15pm at Spring Lane Field. Everyone must have all of their game equipment for practice. See Mr. Mitchell if you have any questions.
  • Powerlifting:
    • Today and Thursday this week 3-4pm If you can not attend please see Mr. MaCalllum
  • Track and Field:  There will be a high jump try out in the gym on Wednesday, May 13th for all levels.
