Pascal Math Contest Results:

  • Last month Birchwood had some students participate in the Pascal Math Contest from the University of Waterloo.  This is open to students all over the world. Our team was second on PEI! 
  • Ailin Li (9B) scored the highest and will receive a medal as well as a certificate of distinction.   Rex Zhang (9B) will also receive a certificate of distinction for his efforts.  Well done to all participants.

Gauss Math Contest

  • Any grade 7 or 8 student that are interested in writing the Gauss Math Contest please meet in Mr. Brioux’s room on Wednesday at lunch for a quick meeting.

Birchwood Fun Run/Walk 5K - May 4:

  • This event is a 5 KM fun run/walk from Birchwood Intermediate school in Charlottetown heading to the Confederation trail and then returning back to the school at the 2.5 km mark on the trail. There will be a medal presentation and prizes drawn following the event. The cost per participant is $20, with all proceeds going to Birchwood Intermediate School to help support school programs and students.

Birchwood Food Drive:

  • 5-Day Food Drive. Our Community Service Learning students are aiming to fill the Charlottetown Food Bank. More families than every before are relying on community support. If each student brings in ONE food item - we will fill the food bank! 🙂  Highest donation per grade level wins a prize! 

BAND:

  • All grade 8 band members will meet during second period today for rehearsal.
  • All grade 9 band members will meet during third period today for rehearsal.
  • Grade 7 band will NOT meet at lunch tomorrow for rehearsal.
  • Reminder to teachers that grade 8 band members will not be at Bwood tomorrow morning and grade 9 band members will not be in class in the afternoon.  These students are attending PEI Band Days at UPEI.

Library:

  • Please return any overdue library books today at break or lunch. 

Clubs:

  • Art Club:
    • The Spring Art Club will start on today, April 9th in the Art Room from 2:55pm  - 3:55pm. 
    • Local artist, Wayne MacDonald, will be leading the club.
    • The club will run for six weeks, with the last day being May 14th.
    • The cost is $35 which goes to Home & School and covers the cost of materials.
  • Guitar Club:
    • Every Thursday 
  • Drama Club:
    • Drama Club will be held on Wednesdays at lunch and Thursdays after school from 3:00-4:15PM.
  • GSA: 
    • Next meeting will not be until the first week of May
  • Colourful Cobras:
    • The new name for the Birchwood BIPOC group, New members welcome.

Sports:  

  • Wrestling:
    • Final practice before PEI Open is Wednesday 2:50 - 5 in the caf.  PEI Open on Saturday, April 13th at Birchwood. Tentative start time is 9:30.
  • Badminton:
    • Tues, Wed & Thurs.  Zones next week.
  • Girls Blue Jays softball:
    • Today at Lunch 

Ice Cream Treats and Freezies on sale Thursday at lunchtime in the cafeteria.
